Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 8 cups Domino® Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 35 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Red and blue gel icing color

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with cupcake liners.
  2. In one bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time and mix in milk gradually.
  3. Pour batter into liners and bake for 18-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  4. Beat softened butter, gradually adding powdered sugar to make frosting, then add almond extract and cream to reach desired consistency.
  5. Frost cooled cupcakes with white buttercream, then decorate using piping bags filled with red and blue icing to create an American flag design.
