  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion (finely diced and sliced)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Seasonings: salt, black pepper, garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, finely diced onion, salt, and pepper until combined. Shape into 6–8 oval patties.
  2. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat and brown each patty for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until translucent. Sprinkle in flour and cook for about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
  4. Return patties to the skillet and cover them with gravy. Bake covered for 45 minutes; then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  5. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
