Baked Orange Cauliflower transforms the beloved orange chicken into a delightful vegetarian dish that’s bursting with flavor. This recipe features crispy, panko-coated cauliflower florets coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce that’s sure to impress both vegetarians and meat lovers alike.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 head of cauliflower (cut into bite-sized florets)
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs (whisked)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1/8 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 tsp ginger (minced)
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • 2 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk the eggs and set aside. Place panko breadcrumbs in a Ziploc bag.
  3. Dip each cauliflower floret into the egg mixture, allowing excess egg to drip off, then coat it with breadcrumbs in the Ziploc bag.
  4. Arrange the breaded florets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While baking, prepare the sauce by combining all sauce ingredients (except cornstarch) in a saucepan; bring to a boil while stirring.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water, then add it to the sauce until thickened.
  7. Drizzle sauce over baked cauliflower before serving.
