  • 12 dinner rolls (e.g., King's Hawaiian)
  • 16 slices American cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp. sweet pickle relish
  • 1 Tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 white onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • pepper, to taste
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • pinch of salt and garlic powder
  • 2 tsp. white sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Butter a baking sheet and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet; sauté diced onions until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef, cooking until no longer pink; drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  6. Slice dinner rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the baking sheet.
  7. Layer half of the cheese on the bottom rolls, add meat mixture, then top with remaining cheese and roll tops.
  8. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds; bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
