- 1.5 pounds sliced brown mushrooms
- 4 teaspoons chopped thyme (divided)
- 0.5 cup dry Marsala wine
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat butter and oil over medium-high heat. Sauté onions until softened, about 3 minutes; add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add sliced mushrooms and 2 teaspoons thyme; cook for about 5 minutes before pouring in Marsala wine. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir well, and cook for another 2 minutes. Gradually add chicken broth while mixing; bring to a boil then reduce heat.
- Simmer covered for about 10–15 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
