  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil (for the skillet)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 6 ounces sliced cremini mushrooms
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Roasted broccoli

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, mustard, oregano, and salt until mixed.
  2. Shape into four oval patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 3 minutes per side until browned.
  4. For the gravy, add butter to the skillet; once melted, whisk in flour until smooth.
  5. Gradually add beef stock while whisking; stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and mushrooms.
  6. Simmer until thickened before adding steaks back in to cook through (about 10 minutes).
  7. Serve over mashed potatoes with extra gravy.
