Ingredients

  • 2 Oranges (quartered)
  • 2 Lemons (quartered)
  • 2 Red onions (sliced)
  • 1 White onion (sliced)
  • 2 Jalapenos (sliced)
  • 7 oz Ginger root (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 oz Turmeric root (peeled and sliced)
  • 7 oz Horseradish root (peeled and sliced)
  • 2 Heads of garlic (crushed)
  • 4 sprigs Fresh rosemary
  • 34 Ceylon cinnamon sticks
  • 4 Star anise
  • 4 Whole rose hips
  • 2 bottles (32 oz each) Apple cider vinegar with 'the mother'
  • 23 tbsp Raw honey

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly wash all fruits and vegetables.
  2. Cut oranges and lemons into quarters, keeping peels on.
  3. Slice red onions, white onion, jalapenos, ginger, turmeric, and horseradish.
  4. In a large glass jar, layer the quartered citrus first, followed by the onions and jalapenos.
  5. Add ginger, turmeric, horseradish, crushed garlic, rosemary sprigs, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and rose hips.
  6. Pour apple cider vinegar over the ingredients until submerged; mix in raw honey to taste.
  7. Seal tightly and store in a cool dark place for at least 4 weeks; shake every few days.
  8. After steeping time is complete, strain out solids using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
