  • 1 heaping cup powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons chai spice blend
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • pinch of kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: Whisk together heavy cream, one egg, and one egg yolk in a measuring cup.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Pulse flour, sugar, baking powder, chai spices, and salt in a food processor.
  3. Incorporate butter: Add cold butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Form dough: Gradually add the cream mixture until a ball forms; do not overmix.
  5. Chill dough: Shape into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and freeze for 30 minutes.
  6. Cut scones: Roll out chilled dough and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), prepare baking sheet.
  8. Bake scones for 20–22 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, chai spice blend, vanilla extract, heavy cream, maple syrup, and salt until smooth.
