  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 cup pastry cream or whipped cream (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm milk for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add yeast mixture, egg, and vanilla; mix into a soft dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate for at least an hour.
