Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp Kashmiri green tea (or other green tea)
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1–2 star anise
- 2 crushed cardamom pods
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Sugar or honey to taste
Instructions
- Boil water in a saucepan and add green tea. Boil for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in baking soda and watch the color change; boil for another 2 minutes.
- Add spices and boil for an additional minute to infuse flavors.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes until reduced by half.
- Mix in salt before adding milk; bring to a boil while stirring to prevent burning.
- Strain into cups and sweeten as desired before serving hot.
