Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 & 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 & 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup patriotic sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened) for frosting
  • 2 & 1/2 cups powdered sugar for frosting
  • Pinch of sea salt for frosting
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting
  • 1 & 1/2 tablespoons whole milk for frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In a stand mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in vanilla.
  3. Gradually combine the dry mixture with the wet ingredients until fully mixed. Fold in patriotic sprinkles.
  4. Press dough into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25 to 28 minutes or until golden. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. For frosting, whip softened butter until smooth; gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in salt, vanilla, and milk until fluffy.
  6. Once cooled, frost the cookie bars evenly and top with additional sprinkles if desired before slicing.
