  • 200g spaghetti
  • 500g ground beef
  • 500g tomato passata
  • 6 crusty white rolls
  • 100g butter, melted
  • 200g mozzarella, shredded
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • 1 medium white onion, finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 80ml red wine
  • 240ml beef stock
  • ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ bunch fresh basil, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 20g freshly grated parmesan
  • 30g parmesan for butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves made into paste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook diced onion until golden brown. Add minced garlic and ground beef; brown thoroughly.
  2. Stir in tomato puree and red wine; let reduce slightly. Add tomato passata and beef stock along with Worcestershire sauce, basil, oregano, sugar, and seasonings. Simmer for about 25 minutes.
  3. Hollow out the crusty rolls after cutting off their tops. Mix melted butter with garlic paste and parsley; brush inside and outside of the rolls.
  4. Cook spaghetti per package instructions until al dente, then mix it into the sauce.
  5. Fill each bread bowl with spaghetti mixture and top with shredded mozzarella.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is crispy.
