- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ lb ground pork
- 28 oz can diced tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 16 oz ricotta cheese
- 9 uncooked lasagna noodles
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté chopped onions and garlic until soft. Add ground beef and pork; cook until browned.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with an egg, dried basil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Begin layering: spread meat sauce at the bottom of a baking dish, place noodles on top, add half of the ricotta mixture and sprinkle with mozzarella. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Top with remaining meat sauce and cheeses. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for another 30 minutes until golden brown.
