- 1/4 oz of active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 8 oz full fat sour cream
- 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
- 3 to 3 ½ c bread flour
- â…“ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 3 c powdered sugar
- 3 Tbsp cream cheese (softened)
- 2–4 Tbsp milk
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- Purple, green and gold sprinkles to decorate
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining it with warm water and sugar; let stand until foamy.
- Heat sour cream, sugar, butter, and salt until melted; cool to 100° to 110°F.
- Mix yeast mixture, sour cream mixture, egg, and half of the flour in a stand mixer until combined.
- Gradually add remaining flour while kneading until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
- Divide, roll out, fill with butter and cinnamon-sugar mixture, then roll tightly.
- Shape into a ring on parchment-lined baking sheets; let rise again (20–30 minutes).
- Bake at 350°F for 25–35 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly before glazing with powdered sugar icing and decorating with sprinkles.
