Description

Ingredients

  • 1/4 oz of active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1/2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz full fat sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 3 to 3 ½ c bread flour
  • â…“ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 c powdered sugar
  • 3 Tbsp cream cheese (softened)
  • 2–4 Tbsp milk
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • Purple, green and gold sprinkles to decorate

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining it with warm water and sugar; let stand until foamy.
  2. Heat sour cream, sugar, butter, and salt until melted; cool to 100° to 110°F.
  3. Mix yeast mixture, sour cream mixture, egg, and half of the flour in a stand mixer until combined.
  4. Gradually add remaining flour while kneading until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Divide, roll out, fill with butter and cinnamon-sugar mixture, then roll tightly.
  7. Shape into a ring on parchment-lined baking sheets; let rise again (20–30 minutes).
  8. Bake at 350°F for 25–35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before glazing with powdered sugar icing and decorating with sprinkles.
