  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 package (11 oz) caramel bits
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 container chocolate fudge frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, milk, eggs, and canola oil using a hand mixer until smooth.
  3. Pour half the batter into the baking dish and bake for about 15 minutes.
  4. While baking, melt the caramel bits with butter and evaporated milk in a saucepan over medium heat until smooth.
  5. Once the cake layer is partially baked, pour the caramel filling evenly over it.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips and pecans on top.
  7. Add dollops of the remaining batter over the filling and gently spread it out.
  8. Bake for an additional 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow cooling completely before frosting with chocolate fudge frosting.
