  • 450 grams ground beef
  • 450 grams ground pork sausage
  • 12 medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 480 milliliters chicken broth
  • 1.5 cups mixed onions and bell peppers (finely chopped)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1/4 cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 3 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Toss shrimp with seafood seasoning; set aside.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until opaque. Remove from skillet.
  3. Add remaining oil to the same skillet; brown the ground beef and sausage until fully cooked.
  4. Stir in chopped onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic; cook until softened.
  5. Mix in flour and spices; pour in chicken broth while scraping up browned bits.
  6. Bring to simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Fold in cooked rice; simmer for another 5 minutes.
  8. Add shrimp back into the skillet; mix gently and season to taste before serving hot.
